" AIKIDO forbids Resistance. As it does not consist of resistance, it is always victorious."
-O Sensei MORIHEI UESHIBA (founder of the AIKIDO)
Descended from the ancient martial arts of Samurai Schools, AIKIDO opposes any violence or competition. This makes it an original martial art, accessible to be learned and implemented by all, without restrictions on age, sex or physical condition.
Teaching martial techniques that can be fearfully efficient at any moment, AIKIDO permits everyone to practice with pleasure without any danger, each practicing by their individual abilities, with the uttermost respect for physical limits.
The extraordinary refinement of the techniques consists of using your body in a different way : one coherent AIKIDO technique is made without applying any muscular force.
With time, the AIKIDO practitioner or Aikido-ka in Japanese learns:
- Self control
- Self defence
- Excellent physical fitness
- Development of reflexes
- Better flexibility, relaxation and body coordination.
- Better management of stress and conflicts
- A harmony between the body and the mind
This is the reason for which we speak of AIKIDO as being :
- A way of life
- A philosophy
- Techniques of combat
AIKIDO is made up, on the physical plane of :
- Empty hand techniques against one or more armed/unarmed partners .
- Weapons techniques : staff, sword and knife (all of wood).
- Techniques of breathing and concentration.
- Exercises to keep the body in good health
